December 14, 2009 - Lori's Revival: "I Wish I Was a Girl!" - A Day About Trans Kids
"Dennis the birthday boy is about to blow out the birthday candles surrounded by friends and family, the mother says, "Go ahead, make a wish and blow out the candles!" Dennis' eyes light up and right before he blows he exclaims, "I WISH I WAS A GIRL!"

November 6, 2009 - In May of this year KRXQ, Sacremento, CA, broadcast on the "Rob, Arnie & Dawn Show" a controversial "opinion" of trans kids and their parents. (See stories here and here.) KRXQ suffered a severe backlash from listeners and sponsors. Rob then decided to "do the right thing." On June 11, "Rob, Arnie & Dawn" produced a 2-1/2 hour show, featuring TYFA CEO Kim Pearson and noted transgender blogger Autumn Sandeen, with the other side of the story. All the shows are now available online, in 15-minute segments, from KRXQ.

October 20, 2009 - During the recent PFLAG Board meeting, it was stressed that the Secretary of the US Department of Education is soliciting reports of bullying and harassment as part of their support for the Safe Schools Improvement Act, HR 2262.

September 24, 2009 - Camp Aranu'tiq is a weeklong, tuition-free, overnight summer camp for transgender and gender-variant youth ages 8 through 15. It's a place where life experiences are shared and lifelong friendships are made

August 3, 2009 - Endocrine Treatment of Transsexual Persons: An Endocrine Society Clinical Practice Guideline -
Published in June, 2009, this lengthy set of protocols for the treatment of transgender persons is the current standard for use by endocrinologists in the U.S.

The Transgender Channel (Luxembourg): TV interview of German transgirl Kim Petras on the Morning Show. The interview draws a more realistic picture of Kim than in the CBS show "The Insider" on April 30, 2009. Kim speaks about her past as a boy and the latest single she has released: "Die for you".

July 20, 2009 - Zig Zag, a developer of high profile intelligent factual documentaries for all major UK and US broadcasters, is in the process of producing a documentary about transgender children, and is looking for families to interview.

July 8, 2009 - A new study is underway at the University of Iowa to compile data on family members of a transgender person. Participants are invited to join the study.

July 4, 2009 - Shannon Garcia, President of TYFA, appeared on BloomingOut, a GLBT-oriented webcast based in Indiana, on July 2. She shared her experiences as the mother of a transchild and provided information about the effects and costs of puberty blockers. (Length = 11:07) Listen Now...

June 18, 2009 - A "safe folder" is a collection of documents that are assembled in a binder or folder. It will be useful in protecting your family and educating others. As soon as you suspect that your child might be transgender you should begin assembling this folder. Posted to Parents' Resources

June 25, 2009 - Originally a cover story in Diversity Rules magazine, A Mother's Love is an interview with Kim Pearson. Kim discusses her experiences as the mother of a transgender child. She also provides a brief primer on the nature of transgender and an outline of the mission of TYFA.
